In order to achieve a political buy-in of the CICS indicators to monitor the progress in the various fields, as well as validating the suggested policy actions, the need for a multi-sectoral Steering Committee was identified.
The CICS Steering Committee's tasks include but are not limited to:
- Provide policy guidance and advocacy for the implementation of the CICS,
- Approve CICS Monitoring and Evaluation Indicators and benchmarks,
- Support the Priority Policy Actions identified through review of the thematic areas and wide stakeholder consultations,
- Recommend funding requirements for the support to the private sector,
- Ensure that the key stakeholders effectively implement the agreed policy actions, and
- Provide a forum for dialogue and consensus building by the key the stakeholders.
The CICS Steering Committee meets every six months. The Steering Committee is responsible for the strategic direction of the programme, and is chaired by the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Treasury,MFPED.
